Destroyer of Worlds

This work is part of my series exploring the combination of mythological/religious figures with insect and insect biology.  I used a Japanese hornet (Vespa mandarinia) as a take on "Shiva the Destroyer of Worlds" and in this case the world is depicted as a honey bee hive. I was inspired by Indonesian styles for the detail. Hopefully this art provokes some though but does not offend. In no way do I mean to diminish the importance of another faith or culture rather I want to show how nature and religion/mythology/faith can be cross-connected. In any case its a fun idea.  I used a black and white polypaint as a way to mix/layer materials in Keyshot. No AI used in the creation of this art.
