Deep Sea Vent Environment

An environment model of a deep sea volcanic vents I created for the planetarium show "Signs of Life" at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium at Griffith Observatory. I created the vents and the environments and worked with Shane Chambers who created the vents and many of the critters swimming around ( and the crabs). It was a really fun shot to work on. Th camera goes from the base of the vents up through the plumes and eventually through the surface. I've included flattened versions of the render as well. Rendered in Arnold for Maya using the fish eye lens plug-in.
