Rotifer model for Planetarium Show

This is a model of a rotifer I created for the planetarium show "Signs of Life" which premiered at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. This shot entailed diving into a drop of water and exploring the microorganisms that could potentially live inside. I modelled, textured, rigged and animated the microorganisms in the shot. Rotifers are a very strange kind of micro organisms that swim around in pond water sucking up critters with their weird brush mouths. yes, these things are real. I created the rotating brushes using a very OG Maya Paint Effects technique. worked like a charm.
