One of my favorite models ever for one of my favorite projects ever. This is a Tardigrade I created for the planetarium show "Signs of Life" which premiered at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. This shot entailed diving into a drop of water and exploring the microorganisms that could potentially live inside. the micro world1 this is a tardigrade, AKA Water bear. I modelled, textured, rigged and animated all the microorganisms in the shot, but the star of the show is the tardigrade. I had to animate the camera diving into the water, pushing through field of bacteria, and finally into one of the cells on the surface of the tardigrade all the way down to it's DNA filled nucleus. Here are some images and renders of the model and rig. I had to model the internal organs as well (tardigrades are multicellular organisms). You can see form the fact that tjis one has ovaries that it is in fact a female tardigrade.
